Rotary Celebrating svitE 100- Years of SERVICE Club of Hilo 100 YEARS Rotary = Service Mentoring Youth In 1920, 13 local businessmen came together to create the Rotary Club of Hilo, meeting each month in original (and classy) Hilo Hotel. For the past 100 years, the Rotary Club of Hilo has been providing Service for our community and throughout the world. How to insure our club survives for another 100 years? it's all about bringing the next generation into the idea that all should "give back"! In 100 years, our club has come a long way since then. Historically, Rotary was a men's organiza- tion, only welcoming women in 1987. Today, our club is half women, and it's no longer an "Old men meeting to write checks" organization. One quarter of our membership is under the age of 49, ono-licious lunch time meals for the residents of the with numerous young people under the age of 29. Hawaii Island Home for Recovery.
