MM: 38 MM: 30 MM: 40 PHASE 3 CCMLETRD Hawaiian Electric is nearing completion of a project to upgrade transmission poles and equipment in the area of the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. In October, crews are replacing utility poles and installing new equipment along Hawai'i Belt Road, or Highway 11, between mile markers 34 and 37 and near Pi'imauna Drive. One lane is closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Motorists are advised to expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Occasionally, a helicopter will be used to install equipment and remove replaced poles once the construction is completed. Work is expected to be completed by Oct. 30, 2020, weather permitting.
