NOTICE TO MOTORISTS Partial Closure of Hawai'i Belt Road Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park April 1 to September 30, 2020 HIGHWAY 11 MAUNA LO NOTICE OF UTILITY WORK APRIL 1- SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 MM: 30 : 31 MM: 32 MM: 33 Hawal'i Volcanoes National Park . 34 MM: 35 CRATER RIM MM: 36 PHASE 1 April 1- June 1, 2020 MM: 37 PHASE 2 : 8 June 2- August 1, 2020 MM: 39 HALINA MM: 40 PHASE 3 August 2- September 30, 2020 Hawaiian Electric will soon start a 6-month project to upgrade transmission poles and equipment in the area of the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Work will be done in phases starting April 1, 2020. Crews will replace 189 utility poles and install new equipment along Hawai'i Belt Road, or Highway 11, between mile markers 30 and 40. One lane will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Once the line construction is completed, the replaced poles will be removed via helicopter. Work is expected to be done by Sept. 30, 2020, weather permitting. For questions or concerns, please call 969-6666.
